Bike!

For the first time in years, I own a bike. Living near the Lilydale-Warburton Rail Trail, I wanted one, so when Aldi had an awesome deal, I snapped one up. They say you never forget how to ride a bike, and I haven't - I'm certainly not falling off the way I did when I learned to ride - but it does feel awfully strange after such a long time!

The Gingerbread Houses

A Christmas surprise for our neighbours, and for my best friend and her family (who conveniently live around the corner from our new place!) I did the baking, which may have been the easy part. Andrew did the construction and decoration. And he delivered them, early Christmas morning.

In the Veggie Beds

Neither Andrew nor I are gardeners, but we do like having home grown food. So we decided for our own garden, we would only plant things which are edible.  This is what's happening in the veggie beds at the moment (okay, last week!)
First batch of corn has gotten tall, and is starting to grow actual corn!
Broad beans are all over the place in terms of height. A couple are starting to flower. The carrots are looking good above ground, but I have no idea what's happening below.
These beans are stretching up high. You can just see a cucumber plant on the left, and a leaf from the big rhubarb.
Onions have all been harvested now. More cucumber.
 Lovage and pumpkins growing well.
I don't actually know what this is. It came as a seedling from a friend labelled zucchini! I may not be good with plants, but that is not a zucchini!

The second batch of corn is also growing well, as are the tomatoes. If you look closely, you can see some teeny tiny tomatoes growing already, and there's more on a plant at the back.
Batch three of corn is still small, as are more tomatoes, pumpkins and cucumbers. There's some basil seeds in there too, but no sign of those growing yet.
Potatoes! And yet more pumpkin. One of the lemon trees in the front left.
